The Committee of Management is defined by rule 10 of the Constitution, and is comprised of 7 financial members of Western Australian Community Access Networks (WACAN) Inc.
Each committee member is elected for a term of 2 years, which starts from the date of his or her election at an Annual General Meeting (AGM) and continues until the second AGM after his or her election. The terms of committee members are staggered, so that no more than 4 committee positions can be up for election at any one AGM.
The WACAN Committee of Management is comprised of:
Having worked across a variety of roles in IT and associated industries for many years, Shane co-founded his own web hosting company in 2008. Prior to this, he held a number of technical positions at a leading Perth ISP. As a technology enthusiast with a keen creative mind, he continues to donate his time and services to other not-for-profit groups throughout WA.
Fuelled primarily by coffee, Brad has covered a wide variety of roles throughout his career in the technology industry. With previous positions at systems integrators and consulting firms, he currently holds a senior technical position at a large international company, and has also served on the committees of various local non-profit organisations since 2005.
Brenton has been in and around the Perth IT community since 2001, having started work as a support technician for the South-West Regional Schools district before moving in 2006 to an operational role at a well known ISP. He currently works as the IT Manager for a local not-for-profit organisation.
I’ve been a part of WACAN since the very beginning learning the tech and helping with smaller roles such as organising social get togethers for members and fundraising for the association. Since being elected to the committee in 2016, I’m looking to kick start more social events and fundraisers as well as more technical meetups for members and people interested in becoming a part of our nerdy family.
I have been involved with Community Wireless Network groups since 2007 including holding various roles on committees and teams, and was elected to the committee in 2015. My background is in Electrical and Mechatronic engineering and I spend most of my day designing and building automated systems, including designing various communications networks; both licensed and unlicensed. Being on the committee allows me to bring many new ideas to the table and offer me the chance help WACAN grow and become an even bigger and better community.
An avowed tech head and gadget buff, Kieran has been tinkering and engineering anything with an LED since he could crawl. Currently employed the Infrastructure Manager for a national conglomerate, he brings a wealth of experience from his time in a number of technical roles across the Telco and Enterprise spaces, along with a love of strong coffee and single-malt scotch. He was elected to the committee in 2016.
